Allergy testing
What is an allergy?
Allergy is an inappropriate immune system reaction mediated by IgE class antibodies that occurs immediately after contact with an allergen. The most common allergens are food, dust particles, pollen or animal hair.
What are the symptoms?
Allergies have a wide range of symptoms, including sneezing, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath, swelling of the skin, itching in the ears, eyes or throat, vomiting or eczema. In extreme cases, when a person is very sensitive to an allergen, life-threatening conditions such as anaphylactic shock can occur.
Test type, test results
The allergy test tests IgE antibodies and contains a total of 117 allergen extracts and 178 molecular allergens. You will receive the test results within 7 working days of collection to your email address.
Are you suffering from allergy symptoms?
If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms and do not know the cause, we recommend that you have an allergy test.
How should I prepare for a blood draw?
You should avoid fatty foods and alcohol before the blood draw. We recommend that you do not smoke and drink plenty of water immediately before the blood draw.
What information should the nurse know about me?
Alert the nurse if you have any allergies, are taking blood thinners, have been taking any medications for a long time or regularly, or if the blood draws make you nauseous.
How should I behave after a blood draw?
After the blood has been drawn, press the injection site firmly for at least 10 minutes and rest for this time. Do not put any physical strain on the upper limb where the blood was taken, ideally for 24 hours after the blood collection.
